Vicente Trelles, Partner (53)
Mr. Trelles is a General Partner and Co-Founder of Med Opportunity Partners, an operating oriented private equity fund focused in the health care sector. From 2001 to March 2006 he was Executive Vice President and COO of Inamed Corporation. Mr. Trelles was a senior member of INAMED’s management team that created over $2.5 billion of shareholder value in four years. During that period Inamed’s sales increased from $240 million to $430 million and earnings doubled. As Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Trelles was responsible for managing INAMED’s global operations including product development, regulatory compliance, and key strategic business partnerships. Mr. Trelles was responsible for over 600 employees worldwide and manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Europe and Central America. In March 2006 Inamed Corp. was acquired by Allergan Inc for $3.2 billion and Mr.Trelles left the company to found Med Opportunity Partners. He currently serves as a director of the board of Revance Therapeutics Inc., a pre-IPO biotechnology company focused on targeted therapeutics and delivery systems, Vibrynt Corp. a medical device start up company focused on obesity and Reliable Biopharmaceuticals Corp. a Med Opportunity Partners portfolio company. Mr. Trelles has spent over 26 years within the medical device and pharmaceutical industries managing global operations at INAMED, Allergan and Baxter Healthcare. From 1999-2001, he was the Chief Operating Officer of McGhan Medical (a wholly owned subsidiary of INAMED) where he managed product development, clinical research, quality, regulatory affairs and compliance, manufacturing, supply chain, information technology and distribution functions. From 1990-1999, Mr. Trelles was a senior operating executive at Allergan, Inc. including, VP Worldwide Surgical Operations, Vice President Europe Operations, Vice President of Manufacturing for their Contact Lens Business and General Manager of the Contact Lens Division in Puerto Rico. From 1981-1990, Mr. Trelles held management positions of increasing responsibilities at Baxter Health Care Corporation and American Hospital Supply including General Manager of its V. Mueller Division in Puerto Rico. Mr. Trelles received a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico.
James A. Breckenridge, Partner (42)
Mr. Breckenridge joined UBS Capital Americas upon its formation in 1993. Since 1997, Mr. Breckenridge has led UBS Capital Americas’ investment efforts in the healthcare and life science sectors. Mr. Breckenridge originated, executed and led $72 million of investments in medical device / medical technology and bio-pharmaceutical investments. Including non-healthcare investments, Mr. Breckenridge has overseen and participated in private equity transactions aggregating over $2 billion in total value since 1993 and UBS Capital Americas’ equity investments of $206 million. Mr. Breckenridge led UBS Capital Americas’ investment in Avail Medical Products, Inc. From 1988-1991, he worked in the equity research department of Kidder, Peabody & Co., Inc. following the food, beverage and tobacco industries. Mr. Breckenridge earned a MBA from Columbia University and a BA from Colgate University. Mr. Breckenridge serves as Chairman of the Board of Reliable Biopharmaceutical Holdings, Inc.
Robert S. Vaters, Consulting Partner (47)
Mr. Vaters was Executive Vice President of INAMED Corporation from 2002 to March 2006. He was a senior member of the management team that created over $2.8 billion of shareholder value in four years. As Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development and Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Vaters was responsible for strategy, corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, tax, treasury, investor relations, and financial reporting. During Mr. Vaters' tenure at INAMED Corporation, sales increased from $240 million to $438 million, profits more than doubled and INAMED Corporation was sold to Allergan Inc. for $3.2 billion. From 2000-2001, Mr. Vaters was an Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer of ARBINET THEEXCHANGE, Inc., a leading telecommunications bandwidth exchange. Mr. Vaters led several financings, a $20 million ERP installation and filed an S-1 initial public offering while at ARBINET. From 1996-2000, Mr. Vaters was Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of Premiere Technologies, Inc. and a predecessor company, Xpedite Systems, Inc. While at Premiere Technologies, Mr. Vaters ran their $75 million Asia Pacific business based in Sydney, Australia which was a top performing business for Premiere. From 1993-1996, Mr. Vaters was Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Young and Rubicam, Inc. Mr. Vaters attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program and earned a MBA from Fordham University and a BA from St. Francis College. Mr. Vaters is EVP/CFO of Orthofix.
